£3,000 in the Pipeline for CLIC Sargent

18th September 2013

The main remit of the Ollie Young Foundation is to raise funds for research into paediatric brain tumours, as detailed in full here on our website. But we also wish to make annual grants of money to two charities close to our hearts, Helen & Douglas House hospice and CLIC Sargent, who support families of children and young people with cancer. Both of these organisations supported Ollie and his family during the difficult weeks of his diagnosis and care, and afterwards too.

Just before Christmas last year, we bought a multi-directional hoist for Helen & Douglas House. And we're delighted to say that we have just awarded £3,000 to CLIC Sargent, to pay for the refurbishment of one of the family bathrooms at CLIC Court in Oxford. It's one of the charity's Home from Home self-catering residences, where families of children receiving specialist treatment, in this case the nearby John Radcliffe hospital, can stay for an unlimited time for free. Here is Simon Young presenting our cheque to CLIC Court's House Manager Paula Pitts, along with Deputy House Manager Louise Gomm and Claire Saul from the OYF.

Paula says "On behalf of CLIC Sargent I would like to say a huge thank you to the Ollie Young Foundation for their generous gift to CLIC Court. We are really looking forward to refurbishing the bathroom and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated by the families staying at CLIC Court in the future."

We are looking forward to seeing the result of this hard-earned fundraising and sharing that with you. And of course we know water-loving Ollie would thoroughly approve. There's nothing he liked more than splashing around in the bath!
